This is a wood framing technology, originally from Japan, that I led the effort to transfer to the USA. Essentially a small group of untrained people can erect an entire house frame in 1-3 days, depending on the size of the structure. The system is precut 100% by CAD/CAM--see that process here: uk.youtube.com Uses engineered wood and wastewood (glulams, LSL) and is very resource and energy efficient. It can also be much more energy efficient than stick framing using innovative insulated panels similar to SIPs. The framing costs, with full custom precut are about double that of pile of 2x6's and nails--Built in a couple of days, without any skilled labor means the final erected cost is about...

The EcoFabulous Home was designed by Kanau Uyeyama Architect Inc. As a firm, we have been researching eco-friendly solutions for many years. In 2008 we put all our knowledge to the test and designed and built the EcoFabulous Home (1000 sq.ft., 400sq.ft. deck) as the Feature Home for the British Columbia Home and Garden Show. There is a living wing (kitchen, dining, sitting) and a bedroom wing (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms). Eco-friendly solutions included such things as 100% recycled paper with zero VOCs for kitchen and bathroom cabinets, cedar deck, siding and spa skirt, and other sustainable woods, CFLs and LEDs, Hydronic heating system with each radiator with its own non-electric thermostat...

Hi this video shows the progress of our new house construction during October 2011. We have made great progress during the month despite early holdups due to heavy rain. We are currently at Joist level and hope to complete the brickwork in November with the Attic Roof going on in early December. If we achieve this then windows and doors will follow to seal the building for Christmas. Thanks for watching. Stan Walker 07939 238907

Socket Systems manufactures the metal joinery system called Lumber Link. This 3-16" steel "socket", joins 6"x 6" rough-cut timbers or wood members, to create a clear span building frame. The standard Lumber Link kit can create a clear span area up to 30 feet wide. Extensions of 15 feet on each side will make the building 60 feet wide. The 6" x8" Hercules fixture can build clear spans up to 60 ft. wide with certain requirements. We also supply steel rafters with pre-welded purlin clips in a variety of pitches. Custom fixtures for cathedral ceilings alternative pitches and more, are no problem. Frames are assembled on the ground and raised into place using the foot locking system. No cranes...
